Yes! Instagram has removed in-stream video ads from its advertising option. Earlier in October, Instagram removed the IGTV video, and then now removed in-stream videos. It is considered as another step taken by Instagram for its next growth. They can, however, use Reels placement for video ads on Instagram.
The announcement of removing in-stream videos is important because as a result, Instagram will move away from disruptive, in-playback ads, in order to create a more cohesive video experience on the platform.
Instagram has been testing a new feed format called full-screen feed format, which encompasses static posts, videos, stories, and reels into a single content stream. When a story appears as you scroll, it would be portrayed by the frame indicators along the bottom of the UI, while video posts would play as you swipe by(like TikTok’s presentation model).
Adam Mosseri stated that the main goal of updating platform features is for making its elements stronger.
Instagram’s most promising feature Reels is the fastest-growing content as it is widely accepted by the audience. So even though Instagram has taken back the IGTV feature, there are certain options for uploading videos. Creating a simple post can take up to 1-hour long video. But maybe later, Instagram will only concentrate on providing more elements in Reel features. Instagram is preparing to come up with another new feature by removing in-stream ad videos.
Instagram is a platform where people can easily make funds. Currently, Instagram has enabled all users to tag products in their Instagram Feed. This will encourage creators to use the platform in a more advanced way. Thus removing in-stream videos makes sense. Instagram may be on its way to offering a wider range of monetization options in the future after this.
